Assistant Professor, Sarah Trautvetter, wins Baltimore Magazine’s Home & Design Award

Congratulations to Landscape Architecture Assistant Professor Sarah Trautvetter for being named winner of Baltimore Magazine’s Home & Design Award in the Small Space/Landscape Design category. This inaugural competition for local architects, interior designers, artisans, builders, and landscape designers included over 100 submissions that were judged by a distinguished panel of nationally renowned professionals. Later this month, winners across 33 categories was recognized at an awards reception as well as featured in the magazine's April 2023 issue. 

Sarah's award winning submission reimagined a traditional Baltimore rowhouse backyard as an urban terrace / outdoor room for both entertaining and refuge. The restricted square footage required several design elements to perform double duty, including a planter box/bench and a combined AC cover/recycling bin/tool chest. Bluestone was repeated in the adjacent remodeled kitchen to unite the interior and exterior spaces.
