Dr. Siddhartha Sen Appointed Interim Dean
This year the School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) is undergoing important leadership changes. As of July 15th, 2022, Dr. Siddhartha Sen, Full Professor in the Graduate Program in City and Regional Planning, has been appointed Interim Dean of SA+P. He has been a faculty member at Morgan State University since 1992 and has a track record of successful academic administration spanning over 25 years. This includes leading the City and Regional Planning program under various titles from 1997 to 2017, serving as an Interim Assistant Dean of our School from fall of 2014 to summer of 2017, as the Associate Dean since fall 2017, and as Acting Director of the Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture for the academic year 2018-2019.
With this transition, we said goodbye to Dean Mary Anne Akers, the School's first dean, who led the school for 14 years to becoming the outstanding and vibrant community that it is today through excellent vision, organization, fundraising and community building efforts. We wish Dean Akers, who has taken up the Dean’s position at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona's College of Environmental Design, all the very best with gratitude and recognition of great accomplishment.
We are grateful and energized to have Dr. Sen’s experience and expertise, which he brings to the role, to lead SA+P through coming transitions to new and continued forms of excellence.
