CASA Academy Health Center Requirements

The University Health Center (UHC) is located in the Woolford Infirmary, and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The University Health Center is staffed with primary care providers and nurses, with the principal responsibility to provide/facilitate emergency health care and diagnostic services to eligible Morgan students. During the summer, the University Health Center will facilitate emergency health care (triage) for individuals participating in CASA Academy who visit the Health Center.

In an effort to ensure quality healthcare to all CASA Academy students and limit liability to the University, each CASA Academy student must ensure they submit their required Health Center documents prior to arriving on campus for CASA Academy. The required Health Center documents are mandatory in order to receive health care services at the UHC. For more information regarding the submission of the required Health Center documents and deadline, please click HERE

Please see the following information below regarding CASA students and the healthcare services provided by the UHC during the Summer program:

  • CASA students are triaged by our Medical Providers on a courtesy basis.
  • The CASA student must be accompanied by their CASA mentor when visiting the UHC for healthcare services.
  • If the CASA student is under the age of 18, the parent or guardian must consent to medical treatment for the student prior to the UHC medical staff providing treatment.
  • The CASA mentor must wait in the UHC waiting room, during the duration of the healthcare visit. The CASA mentor is not permitted in the Exam Room. The CASA mentor will escort the student to their designated area on campus, if the healthcare visit does not require the student to visit the Emergency Room or Urgent Care.
  • If the CASA student requires care from an Emergency Room, Urgent Care, or their Primary Care Provider, the UHC Medical Staff will contact the student's parent, so the parent can make arrangements to retrieve the student based on the diagnosis and additional healthcare services needed.
  • Based on the CASA students symptoms and outcome of the triage, the UHC Medical Provider may complete the steps below:
    • The parent/guardian will be contacted, so they can make arrangements for the CASA student to see their Primary Care Provider.
    • The CASA student may be referred to the local Urgent Care Facility, only if the student is 18 years or older.
    • Based on the diagnosis and treatment, the CASA student may receive a note from the Medical Provider instructing them to return to the dorm for the remainder of the day, and to follow any instructions regarding their treatment.
  • CASA students are not permitted to utilize their cell phones in the UHC Exam Room while the Medical Provider and staff are triaging the patient and providing Health Care services. The Medical Provider will receive consent from the parent/guardian prior to beginning triage.
