Workforce Development

students holding certificates

The NTC, as part of the School of Engineering, engages its students in a multidisciplinary research program while providing the financial and networking resources needed for them to thrive as young professionals. These include on-campus resources, like its pool of world-class resources and facilities, as well as its partnerships in the public and private sector. The NTC was honored by the Council of University Transportation Centers with a national award for workforce development in January of 2021.

Our initiatives have provided internships to more than 300 students, introduced more than 400 high schools students and 50 middle school students to the career opportunities in the transportation industry, and created a curriculum enrichment program for high school math and science teachers.

The Center offers a wide array of scholarships, interships, fellowships, and assistantships to help prospective students receive financial assistance while they receive the training they need to advance in the field. For more information about how to access these limited opportunities, view the pages listed on the right side of the page or contact Dr. Mansoureh Jeihani, the NTC's director, via email at mansoureh.jeihani@morgan.edu.

The National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI)

NSTI is a summer program that introduces middle and high school students to careers in transportation through an immersive program of hangs-on projects and field trips. Over two weeks, students develop STEM skills and SAT strategies to support their learning journey and prepare them for professional life.
