  1. Log into Canvas, and click to open your course, and click the Panopto Video menu item.
  2. Click on the Assignment Folder (if one does not exist please inform your instructor).
  3. Click Create
  4. Either upload a video you have recorded already OR Install the Panopto recorder software and record a new video.

QUICK START GUIDES

Working with Panopto Video:

TROUBLE-SHOOTING PANOPTO ISSUES

Panopto Viewer Issues: Our current release of Panopto uses a combination of Adobe Flash Player and your web browsers built-in HTML5 video player. By default, our interactive viewer will first attempt to serve content using Adobe Flash Player. If you do not have Adobe Flash Player installed on your system we will serve the content using the HTML5 video player. This is also true when viewing embedded podcasts (.mp4) from your Panopto site.

RECORDING BEST PRACTICES

Lighting: Your primary light source should be behind your webcam -- aimed towards you. Use a desk lamp, shaded lamp or position yourself facing a window.

Location: Select a quiet location that offers no distraction. Place a sign on your door. Your background should be uncluttered and clean, preferably with a neutral backdrop

Camera/Laptop Position: Elevate your laptop and position the lens at the top of your head and angle the screen downward slightly. Be sure that you fit in the frame: at least include the top of your head, face, neck, and bust. Maintain casual eye contact with the camera lens. Limit ‘Hand Talking' and Fidgeting

Practice, Practice, Practice: Run through the presentation script a few times before you record. The idea isn't to memorize the piece verbatim, but be comfortable with the major points and how to express them clearly.
