Morgan State Gains Research Professorship Through Md. E-Nnovation Initiative
For a second consecutive year, the Maryland Department of Commerce has awarded Morgan State University funding via the Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative (MEI), a state program created to spur basic and applied research in scientific and technical fields at Maryland-based colleges and universities, to support a new research professorship. This marks the university’s fourth research professorship in as many years.
Morgan State University Has Had Its Second Successful Year of Enrollment Growth
Morgan State University announced it has had its second consecutive year of record enrollment figures. The historically Black university, otherwise known as an HBCU, surpassed 9,100 students for the 2021-2022 academic year. The increase is a 7.5% growth from the university's total student count last year, officials said.

Morgan State University, a historically Black institution, had the highest number of students enrolled this fall. University officials attribute the campus’ infrastructure redevelopment and branding as the main draws to new students. For the past two years, the university recorded back-to-back historic enrollment figures. Enrollment surpassed 9,101 students this year and 8,469 in 2021 — a 7.5% increase that puts the university ahead of its goal of enrolling 10,000 students by 2030.
