New Morgan State head wrestling coach Kenny Monday joins the show to talk about his new role as the Baltimore-based HBCU is relaunching its wrestling program in 2023-24. Monday was a three-time All-American and 1984 NCAA champion at Oklahoma State. He climbed the podium at the highest levels with Olympic gold in 1988 followed by a World title in 1989. Monday won silver medals at the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 Olympic Games. He made his third Olympic appearance in 1996 in Atlanta.
Morgan State University Students Create App That Tracks Loan Eligibility Apart From A Credit Score
Zillow held its second annual HBCU Housing Hackathon and more than 200 students were awarded cash prizes for their innovative ideas and efforts to help provide housing solutions. The top prize went to students from Morgan State University who were awarded $20,000 for their “Z-Save” app, which estimates monthly mortgage costs and lets users deposit that amount into a virtual wallet that tracks their payment trends.
New Medical School Proposed at Morgan State, First One at HBCU School in 45 Years
For the first time in 45 years, a new medical school at a historically Black college or university is opening and it's proposed at Morgan State. The university will partner with Ascension St. Agnes Hospital to launch a for-profit, private medical school aimed to open in 2024.

Baltimore is recognizing the historic legacies of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Mayor Brandon Scott proclaimed Friday to be HBCU Day, during which he also saluted Coppin State University in west Baltimore and Morgan State University in northeast Baltimore.
