Transfer Credit Tools

Welcome to the Morgan State University transfer credit tools for an unofficial indication of how courses from other colleges will be accepted for transfer credit at Morgan State University.

FOR STUDENTS   •    FOR FACULTY/STAFF

To maximize the awarding of transfer credit for prospective and current students, Morgan State University has launched online tools to make the transfer credit process transparent and accessible.

Bear TraP: Prospective Student Transfer Portal

Bear TraP - Visit our new undergraduate transfer portal for prospective students, a student guide estimating how many course credits may transfer to your anticipated degree program at Morgan State University.  Students can create an account to enter completed or anticipated courses at two-year or four-year universities and colleges and see how they would transfer to Morgan State.

Transfer Evaluation System (TES)

TES is a public course-to-course listing of equivalencies with some course descriptions sharing additional major and minor information and non-traditional and specialized transfer credit (i.e., ACE, military credits).  TES may be used by prospective and current Morgan State University students to obtain an unofficial indication of how courses from other resources may be accepted for transfer credit at Morgan State University. It is important to remember that the TES is an unofficial course evaluation tool. Morgan State University will officially determine transfer credit acceptance after you are admitted to the university, and official transcripts from all of your previously completed coursework have been received. The system is dynamic and is continually updated as courses are reviewed.

Use this guide to learn how to use the Transfer Equivalency System Equivalencies are updated and added continuously throughout the year as students, universities, and colleges present new courses.

Current students may use TES to complete the permission to take an off-campus course form.

Tips:

  • Institutions voluntarily participate in the TES system, so exclusion from the TES site does not necessarily indicate that credits will not be accepted. The TES system is subject to changes at the University's discretion as Transfer Articulation and Evaluation Team reviews equivalencies.
  • MSU lists courses that have been reviewed for equivalency, whether approved or denied.
  • If a course is not listed in TES or BearTrap, MSU has not received an evaluation request for this course. Please collect a syllabus for this course and submit it to the Transfer Evaluation and Articulation Team.

Articulation System for Maryland Colleges and Universities (ARTSYS)

ARTSYS is intended to aid transfer students exclusively from Maryland community colleges to Morgan State University.

DegreeWorks DegreeWorks is available for undergraduate students initially admitted on or after Fall 2010 and beginning with the 2010-2013 Undergraduate Catalog. DegreeWorks is also available for graduate students admitted after Fall 2022 and beginning with the Fall 2022 graduate catalog.

Students should log into their Student Self-Service/WebSIS account, select Student, and then select Degree Works to access Degree Works. Students admitted before Fall 2010 or under a catalog before the 2010-2013 Catalog should see their advisor for degree audit information.

Please note the following:

  • Although the tables are updated continuously, this is not a complete list. Results are limited to selected colleges and courses reported by previous transfer students. However, coursework from an accredited college in the United States is eligible for transfer credit at Morgan State University.
  • Students who plan to transfer credits from outside the U.S. must provide an official statement of educational equivalence AND course-by-course evaluation from a member of NACES. Information can be located at http://www.naces.org/members.html.
  • All student procedures for submitting course descriptions can be located here.
  • Additional schools and courses will be added to the Morgan State University Transfer Evaluation System as they become available.
  • If a course is not listed, it has not been previously evaluated and will likely transfer in as an elective until the appropriate department has reviewed it.
  • It is recommended that you have your transcripts listing course numbers when using the tool.
  • The student's grade point average (GPA) computation does not include transfer credits.
  • Quarter credits are converted to semester credits (one-quarter credit equals 2/3 of a semester credit).

***Please note: Morgan State University will officially determine transfer credit acceptance after you are admitted to the university, and official transcripts for all of your previously completed coursework have been received. Additional schools and courses will be added to the Morgan State University Transfer Evaluation System as they become available.

If you have questions about the transfer evaluation process, which includes all services mentioned above, please email transfer-evaluation@morgan.edu
