Admission Requirements

Below is general information needed to apply to the M.S. program in Construction Management

  • Applicants for the MS degree program in Construction Management must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. There is no prescribed undergraduate course of study for admission to the program. However, students that do not have Construction Management background, have to take two foundation courses as a pre-requisite for all the CMGT courses. Students with an overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or better are offered unconditional admission, while a GPA of at least 2.5 is required for conditional admission.
  • Students who have less than 2.5 GPA must register as a non-degree seeking student and then when sufficient GPA of 3.0 is reached during the coursework at MSU, the non-degree seeking student can then change to degree seeking student.
  • Submit an application for admission together with an official copy of transcripts from all institutions attended, including graduate and undergraduate colleges and universities.
  • Have three letters of recommendation sent to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies from officials or faculty members of institutions previously attended who are acquainted with the applicant's ability for graduate study or from employment supervisors where applicable.

International Applicants

International students applying from Universities outside of the US must submit WES or ECE evaluated transcripts. International transcripts, diplomas, certificates, mark sheets, etc. or copies of these documents are not admissible in the graduate admission process and will not be accepted if sent to the School of Graduate Studies. The School of Graduate Studies will only accept official course-by-course evaluations received directly from World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).

Evidence of English Proficiency
An official transcript showing a bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university, or an international college or university where English is the principal language of instruction do not require TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Applicants from countries where English is not the medium of instruction, must demonstrate their ability to use the English language by obtaining the following minimum scores:

We do not accept IELTS or TOEFL scores sent via email on in person. They must come directly from the agency.
