The Thesis, Dissertation, & Capstone Submission Process

Hello Masters and Doctoral candidates! Congratulations on your near completion of the manuscript and defense for your thesis, dissertation, or capstone! It is time for you to start working with the School of Graduate Studies to submit your manuscript for final approval, copyright, and publication. This is a multi-step process that requires you to review and submit four forms to the School of Graduate Studies. The infographic below outlines the process.

The entire gradETD process is electronic. Please do not hand-deliver or mail any thesis, dissertation, or capstone manuscript content to the School of Graduate Studies. If you have any questions, please email gradETD@morgan.edu for assistance.

Spring 2026 Submission Deadline

NOTE: The ETD process for the Spring 2026 semester will begin on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. You can begin the ETD process by emailing gradETD@morgan.edu.

To be considered for Spring 2026 graduation, your thesis, dissertation, or capstone defense date must be scheduled at least two weeks before the submission deadline to the School of Graduate Studies. The advised defense deadline for the Spring 2026 semester is Monday, March 9, 2026. This timeframe is essential to allow sufficient time for planning, manuscript review, and final approval by the School of Graduate Studies.

IMPORTANT: Any theses, dissertations, or capstones defended after March 9, 2026, will not be reviewed and approved by the School of Graduate Studies in time for Spring 2026 graduation. Manuscripts defended after this date will instead be reviewed during the Fall 2026 semester.

The Spring 2026 deadline for submission of theses, dissertations, or capstones to the School of Graduate Studies is Monday, March 23, 2026, at 3:30 pm EDT. No exceptions!

Fall 2026 Submission Deadline- Friday, October 16, 2026, at 3:30 pm EDT. No exceptions!

Thank you, and we look forward to reviewing your brilliant work!
