Dr. Cliff “Ubba” Kodero is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Studies at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.
He holds a Ph.D. from Florida International University's Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, specializing in international relations with a focus on international political economy. His dissertation, titled "Rethinking the Functions of Regional Economic Communities: Why African Small States Join and Remain in Sub-Regional Entities," delves into the reasons behind the participation of small African economies in regional cooperation despite potential economic losses. The dissertation emphasizes the non-economic benefits of regionalism, expanding the concept of rationalism to include aspects such as identity, solidarity, regime-boosting, and sovereignty-boosting for ruling regimes.
Dr. Kodero also has an MA in African and African Diaspora Studies from FIU, an MA in International Studies from the University of Wyoming, and a BA in Political Science from Principia College. His work has been published in e-International Relations, African Studies Quarterly, and the Journal of Global South Studies, as well as in book chapters by Palgrave Macmillan and Lynne Rienner Publishers. These publications focus on issues related to transnational blackness and the international political economy. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Kodero runs The Ubba Kodero Show on YouTube, where he discusses global significance, ranging from African perspectives on global issues to lectures on international affairs.
