HBCU-RISE: Enhancing research and education infrastructure at Morgan State University: Microplastics in the estuarine ecosystem. PI, supported by NSF

HBCU-Rise 1

This project aims to enhance the infrastructure and capacity for sustainable research in bioenvironmental science at Morgan State University, and increase the number and quality of URM doctoral students by integrating research and education. This project will explore the abundance, size fraction, and chemical composition of microplastics in the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. Microplastic photo-degradation and its ecological impacts on the living organisms in the aquatic environment will also be explored.
