Research Concepts Competition (RCC)

The Research Concepts Competition (RCC) encourages undergraduates to think outside of the box and propose innovative faculty-mentored research ideas driven by their interests. The intiative has its roots in ASCEND's Health Research Concepts Competition, which offered up to $5,000 of funding for strongly developed research proposals. The Office of Undergraduate Research (O.U.R.) has expanded the reach of funding students' research concepts who are not solely interested in health-related topics. In order to ensure that students are well-equipped to develop their ideas into competitive proposals, the Office offers workshops in the fall semester surrounding:

  • Concept Brainstorming
  • Mutual Expectations (students and faculty)
  • Research Skills
  • Concept Development

Moreover, Dr. Brown is willing to meet and discuss broad ideas to help narrow them down into defined research questions.

Please note that only SRC Members are eligible for RCC funding consideration.
