The College of Interdisciplinary and Continuing Studies (CICS) at Morgan State University invites employers, community organizations, and philanthropic partners to work with us to expand access to education, strengthen the workforce, and support degree completion for adult learners. As Maryland’s Preeminent Public Urban Research University and a Historically Black College and University, Morgan State brings a legacy of excellence, equity, and innovation to every partnership.
CICS serves as Morgan State University’s hub for interdisciplinary degree completion, learning mobility, and workforce-aligned education. Through our Morgan Completes You programs, we collaborate with partners to design pathways that help learners—and organizations—achieve their goals.
Why Partner with CICS?
CICS specializes in working with adult learners who balance work, family, and community responsibilities. Our programs are fully online, flexible, and designed to recognize prior learning gained through professional, military, and non-academic experiences. We believe that learning never expires and that degree completion strengthens individuals, organizations, and communities.
Partners benefit from:
- Access to high-quality, accredited degree programs
- Flexible learning models aligned with workforce needs
- Expertise in credit for prior learning and learning mobility
- Personalized advising and student success support
Supporting Degree Completion and Student Success
Partners and funders play a critical role in advancing degree completion for adult learners. Opportunities to collaborate include:
- Scholarships and Completion Grants to reduce financial barriers for working adults
- Program Sponsorships that support targeted populations or workforce sectors
- Wraparound Support Initiatives focused on advising, career readiness, and persistence
- Data-informed Pilots that test innovative approaches to adult learner success
These investments help learners complete what they started, improve career outcomes, and contribute to economic mobility and community development.
Employer Partnerships for Employee Advancement
CICS works closely with employers to design education pathways that support employee growth while addressing organizational talent needs. We collaborate with employers to:
- Align degree programs with career ladders and promotion pathways
- Support employees in achieving personal and professional educational goals
- Maximize the use of transfer credit and credit for prior learning to accelerate completion
- Integrate tuition assistance and advising into a seamless employee experience
Employees remain productive while completing their degrees, and employers benefit from increased retention, engagement, and leadership capacity.
CICS as Your Academic Partner: Innovative Workforce Models
CICS serves as an academic partner in the design and delivery of innovative workforce development models, including:
- Registered and Non-Registered Apprenticeships
- Earn-and-Learn Pathways aligned with critical workforce needs
- Industry-informed Interdisciplinary Degrees

These partnerships allow employers to address immediate workforce gaps while building sustainable talent pipelines rooted in academic rigor and real-world application.
Invite CICS to Your Community Event
CICS faculty and staff are available to participate in community events, employer convenings, conferences, and professional development sessions focused on degree completion, adult learners, learning mobility, and workforce education.
We welcome opportunities to:
- Speak about degree completion pathways and returning to college as an adult
- Share best practices in credit for prior learning and transfer success
- Discuss education as a tool for economic and community mobility
