ACEJMC Accreditation

On April 25, 2020, the School of Global Journalism & Communication received accreditation from the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). It is just the second program in Maryland, and one of just seven programs at HBCUs with full ACEJMC accreditation.

ACEJMC accreditation is a voluntary process that required the SGJC to conduct a rigorous self-examination of its programs against nine standards. After completing this self-study, the SGJC was evaluated by a site visit team of educators and professionals. The team found SGJC in compliance with all nine standards and recommended accreditation. In unanimous votes both the accrediting committee and the accrediting council agreed.

To have ACEJMC accreditation assures students, parents and the public that SGJC's programs are of very high caliber and provide students with the skills and experiences they need to succeed in a highly competitive field.
