Bears Energy Savings Team

Morgan State University is Maryland's preeminent public urban research university. The mission of the university is to serve the community, state, nation, and world as an intellectual and creative resource by supporting, empowering and preparing diverse high-quality graduates to lead the world. The University offers innovative, inclusive, and distinctive educational experiences to a broad cross section of the population in a comprehensive range of disciplines at the baccalaureate, master's, doctoral, and professional degree levels. Through collaborative pursuits, scholarly research, creative endeavors, and dedicated public service, the University gives significant priority to addressing societal problems (i.e. energy efficiency), particularly those prevalent in urban communities. In collaboration with all segment of the university and professional community, the Bears Energy Savings Team (BEST) at Morgan State University promotes excellence in energy efficiency through the following initiatives:

  • A systematic and sustainable process of institution-wide assessment of energy usage;
  • Use of target goals and objectives for addressing energy savings;
  • Use of action plans to guide implementation of goals and objectives;
  • Data-based decision making and improvement;
  • Implementation of proven strategies, research, methods and technology; and 
  • Organization and distribution of energy efficient resources (education, training, and workshops).
