Morgan State Launches Think Tank on Black Soccer Culture and History

Morgan State University's School of Global Journalism and Communication has launched Black SoccerLab, a think tank that focuses on soccer in Black America and the African diaspora. The initiative will concentrate on research, media programming and service that will share narratives of the Black soccer community and showcase its development globally. The lab, which will operate from the Maryland school’s Center for the Study of Race and Culture in Sports, will highlight stories, issues, and history related to the sport.

As part of an effort to preserve its history while making its legacy more accessible to others, The Most WorshipfulTM Prince Hall Grand Lodge F.& A.M. of Maryland and Its Jurisdiction, Inc. has entered a memorandum of understanding with Morgan State University to house select artifacts in the Earl S. Richardson Library’s Beulah M. Davis Special Collections: Davis Room.

Universities Reimagine Teaching Labs for a Virtual Future

As classroom instruction moved from in-person to virtual, professors and teaching assistants quickly realized this new learning experience created many challenges. Real-time instruction and hands-on experience gave way to students trying to solve problems independently. Soon after, engineering professors at Morgan State began using more advanced virtual lab options, which allowed students to access industry-grade lab equipment.
