Ja’Niah Henson Stars On And Off The Court For Morgan State Women’s Basketball
On a cold and windy afternoon in Milwaukee in November 2019, Ja’Niah Henson stepped on the basketball court for her very first regular-season game for the Morgan State women’s basketball team. In the 70-48 loss to Marquette, the Baltimore native came off the bench and tallied six points for the Bears.

Morgan State University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) that fielded its first football team in 1898, was a 3-time champion at the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) during the 1970s. In 1979, the Bears went 9-2-0, defeating local rivals Howard (DC) and Towson (MD) and losing just 2 games to Grambling State (LA) and Alabama A&M.
