Education:

Nicholas Vaught is a higher education leader dedicated to fostering student success. For over 15 years, Nicholas has worked tirelessly to support students from all backgrounds in achieving their educational and career goals.


Currently serving as Assistant Dean at Morgan State University's new College of Interdisciplinary and Continuing Studies, Nicholas enjoys helping expand access to higher education for adult learners. Under his leadership, the College has already enrolled hundreds of busy professionals and working students seeking to advance their careers through further education. Nicholas ensures the College provides flexible programming and holistic advising to accommodate each student's unique needs and responsibilities outside the classroom.


Committed to equitable outcomes, Nicholas places strong emphasis on retention, recognizing that all students deserve individualized and tailored guidance. He works closely with his advising team to empower each student towards graduation by addressing any challenges early on.
Prior to Morgan State, Nicholas held leadership roles launching new academic programs and initiatives at several institutions. As Director of the Applied Liberal Studies program at Morgan State, he aided nearly 500 students in attaining their degrees through experiential learning opportunities and cross-campus collaboration. In his role as Assistant Director of Curriculum at Johns Hopkins, Nicholas oversaw faculty and curriculum for a program serving over 2,000 students.


Across his career, Nicholas has guided thousands of students, consistently earning awards for his dedication to their success. He finds deep fulfillment in students' achievements and successes. Nicholas remains student-centered in all his work, from teaching capstone courses to presenting nationally on best practices in recruitment, retention, and career preparation of adult learners.


Committed to equitable and inclusive education, Nicholas continues progressing toward his doctorate researching adult learner experiences. Through empirical study, he aims to better understand how institutions can effectively reach and support adult learners. Ultimately, Nicholas Vaught's vision is a higher education system that empowers learners of all ages to reach their greatest potential.
