K-12 AI Learning

Objective

The K–12 program at CEAMLS aims to expand access to artificial intelligence education by providing free, standards-aligned curriculum and experiential learning opportunities for students and educators. Through classroom-ready instructional resources and community-based workshops, the program equips K–12 learners with foundational knowledge of AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, while fostering critical thinking about ethical, social, and real-world implications. Our objective is to empower students and teachers to engage confidently with advanced technologies through effective and ethical learning experiences, regardless of school resources or socioeconomic background.

The CECE Lab Teacher Education Summer Cohort is a professional learning experience designed specifically for K–12 educators interested in expanding their knowledge and application of artificial intelligence, STEM integration, computational thinking, and challenge-based learning in classroom settings. Participants will engage in collaborative learning experiences, hands-on activities, curriculum development, instructional innovation, and student instructional practice designed to strengthen AI and STEM education practices for K–12 students.

Cohort Information
Program Dates: June 22 – July 31, 2026
Participant Award: $4,000 stipend
Application Submission Deadline: June 5, 2026, by 11:59 PM
Cohort Selection Notification: June 10, 2026

Throughout the program, educators will implement and test instructional strategies and curriculum activities with students to evaluate the effectiveness, engagement, and usability of curriculum resources within authentic classroom and learning environments. Participant feedback and instructional observations will help refine and strengthen future curriculum implementation and professional learning experiences.

Learning Structure

• Week 1: Fully Virtual
• Weeks 2–5: Hybrid (Virtual & In-Person)
• Monday & Friday: Virtual Learning Sessions
• Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday: In-Person Collaborative Sessions

Participants will engage in synchronous virtual instruction, collaborative workshops, in-person learning labs, curriculum design sessions, student instructional practice opportunities, and professional networking experiences throughout the program.

Participant Requirements

• Must be a current K–12 educator
• Must be available to participate throughout the entire program duration
• Must participate in the CEAMLS Symposium on July 25–26, 2026
• Interest in AI, STEM, computational thinking, and innovative instructional
  practices
• Willingness to actively participate in both virtual and in-person sessions
• Willingness to participate in instructional implementation and curriculum feedback activities

Program Logistics

Participants are responsible for securing their own transportation to in-person program locations. Additional program logistics, schedules, and cohort expectations will be provided upon acceptance into the program.
