Financial Aid

Do I need to fill out a FAFSA if I am using VA Educational Benefits?

Not all VA Educational Benefits cover all possible school expenses (ie Health Insurance, meal plans, transportation, and supplies). Therefore, it is suggested that students complete the FAFSA to cover expenses that may not be covered by their VA educational benefit.

I am eligible for the Pell grant. How does that affect my VA benefits?

Pell Eligibility does not impact a student receiving any of the VA Educational Benefits. However, The Office of Financial Aid must ensure that the student's financial budget is not exceeded within any academic school period. For more detailed information regarding this process visit the Financial Aid Information page on the MSU website.
