Masters of Arts in Teaching Program (MAT)
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program in the School of Education leads to a (7-12) teaching license in the following areas: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, and Physics. The MAT program at Morgan State University meets MSDE teacher licensure program requirements.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, HIstory, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, or Physics. Or a bachelor's degree in another field with a minimum of 24 credit hours in the intended teaching content area. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in their undergraduate degree. GPA 2.50 is eligible for conditional admission.

What is the Dual Degree Program
5-year B.S./ B.A. + MAT program
Integrates both graduate work and undergraduate experience
Allows candidate to earn both a B.S./ B.A. and a MAT by completing 5 years of study

What are the admission requirements?
Candidates must:
Earn and maintain a 3.0 (GPA) by the end of the sophomore year
Meet the university requirements for junior status
Contact the graduate director of the MAT program, Dr. Muhammad Sharif Uddin, prior to the end of the sophomore year
