Programs
Elementary Education The Elementary Education Program has primary responsibility for the preparation of teachers and other professional educators. Its central purpose is to prepare professionals at the undergraduate level and is supported by the strong liberal arts tradition and philosophy at Morgan State University.
Physical Education Program The Physical Education Program prepares physical educators and practitioners in the field of athletics kinesiology. Within the physical education major, there are academic tracks in the areas of dance education, recreation and parks, sports administration and teacher education. Each track leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. The teacher education track leads to a Specialty Maryland Teaching Certification in grades K-12.
The accelerated Master of Arts in Teaching program at Morgan State University is a rigorous, cohort-based teacher preparation program designed for prospective teacher candidates with at least a bachelor’s degree in a concentration area: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History/Social Studies, Mathematics, Music, Physics, and Physical Education. This one-year program provides a fast-track pathway to earn a professional teaching license for both career changers and recent graduates. The program offers a blend of coursework, field experience, faculty mentorship, and guidance to support licensure exam preparation. To meet Maryland state certification requirements, a candidate must successfully complete the coursework, internship, e-Portfolio, and Praxis II exams in the area of certification. During the internship semester, the candidate will also complete an edTPA portfolio and submit it for national scoring.
Master of Science in Administration and Supervision The Master of Science in Administration and Supervision are designed to prepare and certify talented teacher leaders to assume a leadership role at the elementary school, middle school, or high school level.
