Film & Digital Storytelling

The English and Language Arts Department, in conjunction with the Screenwriting and Animation major, offers a Film and Digital Storytelling minor with 3 tracks: (1) Screenwriting (Film and Television Writing) (2) Film and Digital Storytelling (3) Cinematic Studies. The minor requires 9 units of required core courses in Screenwriting and Animation with the SWAN designation in the catalogue, and 9 units of approved courses in English and Language Arts.

1) The Screenwriting track emphasizes writing for dramatic film, episodic television, documentaries, and corporate and non-broadcast media. (2) The Film and Digital Storytelling track combines writing and hands-on production and editing of documentaries, oral histories, memoir, dramatic shorts, and corporate and non-broadcast media. (3) The Cinematic Studies track includes a combination of courses that emphasize the critical evaluation of cinema through research, and film theory and analysis.

Special Note: Students may not use courses from the Film and Digital Storytelling Minor to simultaneously satisfy other requirements, including General Education requirements, requirements for their majors, requirements for another minor or the Liberal Arts Core.
