Transfer Student Orientation

We look forward to you joining the Morgan State University family. All newly admitted MSU transfer students will participate in Transfer Student Orientation where they will receive information pertinent to their unique and collective onboarding needs. The Office of Transfer Student Programming (TSP) will send information regarding orientation to your Morgan email address. To ensure that you begin your Morgan experience prepared and informed about all of the opportunities and possibilities available to you as a Morgan student, the TSP team has planned for you to participate in Transfer Student Orientation.

All transfer students who have been officially admitted to the University will receive an email linking to Virtual Transfer Orientation in Canvas. You will use your MSU login to access the Transfer Orientation course. Each course module will provide information on a required activity and/or segment of the orientation and direct you to helpful campus resources.

All new transfer students have a "Transfer Student Programming Hold" which prevents class registration. This is an advising hold to ensure you meet with your school's designated transfer coordinator BEFORE you register for your classes. Your transfer coordinator will remove the hold on your account during or immediately after your advising appointment.

The fall 2023 semester begins on August 21, 2023. New transfer students must submit all transcripts from previously attended institutions to records@morgan.edu. All transcripts must be evaluated before registration. After meeting with a college/school transfer coordinator, students will be able to register for Fall 2023 courses online on the following dates:

• Monday, May 1, 2023 at 12:01 AM through Friday, September 1, 2023 at 5 PM

Follow the checklist below in order

• Complete the MSU application for admission;
• Be admitted to the University as a transfer student;
• Confirm your intent to enroll at Morgan State University;
• Activate your MSU student email account and check it regularly for information, updates, and prompts for action;
• Our online Transfer Orientation module is currently under construction and all admitted transfer students will receive a link to the Canvas course when it becomes available in early May.

You should:

• Await your "transfer credit evaluation complete" e-mail notice from the Transfer Evaluation Team. This can take up to 20 business days;
• Review your transfer credit evaluation in DegreeWorks;
• After you have received your evaluation notice, you may contact your college/school transfer coordinator to schedule an appointment  for academic advisement and course registration;
• Course registration for Fall 2023 will be open for transfer students: 
  • Monday, May 1, 2023 at 12:01 AM through Friday, September 1, 2023 at 5 PM
