Dr. Paul B. Tchounwou Named New Dean of Morgan State University’s School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences

Morgan State University President David K. Wilson and Provost Hongtao Yu today announced the appointment of internationally-recognized biomedical research scientist Paul B. Tchounwou, D.Sc., as the new dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences (SCMNS), effective January 1, 2023.

Grant to Fund Virtual Fire Simulations and Fire-Safety Research at Morgan State

Do people react differently to a fire in a kitchen versus one in a bedroom? That's the kind of question a Morgan State professor hopes to answer, with the goal of improving home fire safety. With the help of a $596,383 grant from the National Science Foundation - the first of its kind for an HBCU - Morgan State University will recruit participants to react and make decisions based on software-simulated building fires.

Money Moves: Morgan State Receives Almost $10M in STEM Research Grants

At the beginning of the month, Morgan State University announced a five-year, $9 million grant from the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Office of Naval Research. Morgan State also announced today that it received a grant for $596,383 from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This money will be used to research human responsiveness to signs of fire in different situations.
