The Magic of Education: Morgan President David Wilson Reflects on a Glorious Past and Looks to a Bright Future

Not a month passed in 2021 without news of endowments, gifts, and grants received by Morgan State University. One study showed that the impact of the largest historically Black college and university (HBCU) in Maryland topped $1 billion in that year alone. The study also found that the HBCU supports 6,900 jobs, more than 4,000 within Baltimore City—accounting for $558 million in Maryland wages and $188 million in Baltimore.

Morgan State University Students Gain Exposure in Financial Services, IT Through Unique Partnership

To better address a goal of increasing workforce diversity in STEM, Lincoln Financial Group formed a partnership with Morgan State University in 2021. To date, two events have been hosted with MSU. A Professional Development Competition was held along with Lincoln’s Financial Distributors. However, the codeLinc for IT event was the first one which was held at MSU from April 2-3, 2022 for students who attend the university.

Lake Clifton Graduate Dena Freeman-Patton Happy to ‘Come Home’ to Baltimore as Morgan State’s First Female Athletic Director

Dena Freeman-Patton’s career path has come full circle. About three decades after she first stepped onto Morgan State’s campus as a junior at Lake Clifton High School to attend a Lakers-Dunbar basketball game and later participated as a senior in a homecoming parade, Freeman-Patton will return to Baltimore as the first female athletic director in the Bears’ 155-year history.
