Classroom Stressors Reduced as Students and Professors Turn to Tai Chi
In a move toward centering its students' mental health and holistic approaches to teaching, Morgan State University’s World Religions, Global Cities class, led by Dr. Harold D. Morales, starts off some of its instruction with music and Tai Chi Chuan exercises. Morgan's Religion and Cities Community Engagement Fellow and alumnus, Stanley Jenkins, has been leading the exercises with students before engaging in discussions about the definitions and complex relationships between religion and cities.

Morgan is growing the future through its support of and commitment to a national Center for Religion and Cities that will pave the way for more equitable, community engaged, and holistic approaches to addressing the social inequities and other pressing issues that plague our cities. The work the Center does builds upon lessons learned in Baltimore to connect Morgan students and faculty to a national network of universities, cultural institutions, and community partners and to lead future innovations in higher education.
