The Digital Newsroom

The Digital Newsroom is the performance center for the Department of Multimedia Journalism. It is student-staffed, but faculty supervised. It operates as closely as possible to a real newsroom with student reporters pitching their own stories or being assigned stories or beats.

In November 2018 the Digital Newsroom did its full-court press, full-day Election Day operation, from polls opening until final counts and races called. Students were out reporting from the polls and community get-out-the vote activities, calling in with live reports to WEAA and live interviews with community activists and political pundits.
