ON TARGET FOR 2025

For 150 years, Morgan State University has advanced the welfare of its students and the broader community by offering the opportunity of higher learning. Today, Morgan has the distinction of being Maryland’s Preeminent Public Urban Research University and a leader in 21st century innovation. As president, I am inordinately proud of our record of achievement, whether it be our status as No. 1 in the state for the number of doctorates awarded to African Americans or in the wide-ranging success of our talented alumni. And now, as we continue “growing the future” and “leading the world,” we have our sights set on 2025. In the coming years, we will build on our institution’s strategic plan to achieve a measurable goal: increasing Morgan’s graduation rate to 50 percent by 2025 in a campaign we call “50 by 25.” Vital to this effort will be the HBCU Student Success Project, the key components of which are a campus-wide predictive analytics system and a second-year experiential learning opportunity. This project, inspired and funded by our partner Lumina Foundation, is adding to our momentum in improved student success, and the best is yet to come.

I invite you to engage in this initiative and walk the exciting and demanding path before us. “50 by 25” is achievable with our collective efforts and combined expertise. Let’s create a future that is as transformative as our past.
