World Password Day: The Essential Digital Defense
Every year, World Password Day is observed on the first Thursday of May, serving as a timely reminder to reevaluate our online security habits. In today’s digital age, where cyber threats are constantly evolving, strong passwords remain one of the most critical lines of defense.
At Morgan, safeguarding systems and data is a shared responsibility. That’s why the Division of Information Technology (DIT) encourages all Bears to take a few minutes this World Password Day to review, refresh, and reinforce your passwords.
- Use passphrases – Longer is stronger. A string of unrelated words (e.g., SunshineCoffeeJazz2025!) is easy to remember and hard to crack.
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) wherever possible. It’s like adding a second lock to your digital door.
- Don’t reuse passwords across accounts.
It is also recommended that you use a secure password manager to store and generate unique passwords for every account. Let’s do our part to keep Morgan’s network safe—one strong password at a time
