J. Wayman Henry is a nationally recognized leader in finance, economic development, and entertainment infrastructure. Named one of Who’s Who in America’s most successful young professionals, he holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance from Morgan State University.
During his tenure under Maryland State Treasurer Richard Dixon, J. Wayman served as Assistant to the Treasurer and Director of Securities, where he oversaw the management of Maryland’s $2.5 billion investment portfolio. He also supervised municipal financial and securities operations throughout the state, including for the City of Baltimore. Additionally, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the State of Maryland’s Annual Report—an official document reviewed by both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Congress.
J. Wayman’s business acumen extends into real estate and entertainment development. He was an equity investor and consultant for the Navarre Group’s “Twelve” development, part of the $3 billion Atlantic Station project in Atlanta, Georgia. There, he led a team of professional athletes in cultivating corporate anchor partnerships for the hotel and residential components of the project.
Now based in historic Llewellyn Park in West Orange, New Jersey, J. Wayman has held public leadership roles as Chairman of Economic Development and Co-Chair of the Cannabis Commission Task Force. He played a pivotal role in drafting cannabis legislation, guiding the municipal application process, and helping to implement Green Zones adopted across New Jersey.
A key advocate for film and television expansion, J. Wayman partnered with Governor Phil Murphy to help establish groundbreaking legislation positioning New Jersey as the most competitive tax incentive state for film and television in the nation. His partnership with Whoopi Goldberg and MBS Studios is slated to bring a major film production studio to the City of Newark, further solidifying New Jersey’s position as a premier destination for media and entertainment.
