Funding

The Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership, and Policy (DASLP) is committed to preparing equity-oriented leaders, scholars, and practitioners. We recognize that funding plays a critical role in students’ ability to fully engage in graduate study, research, and professional development. Our graduate students fund their education through a combination of departmental assistantships, tuition awards, campus-based opportunities, and external support. While funding is limited and competitive, we work intentionally to connect students with opportunities that align with their academic goals and professional pathways. Funding availability varies by program, enrollment status, and institutional resources.

Prospective students should be aware that there are three types of funding opportunities available for admitted DASLP graduate students. To be considered for funding, applicants must submit a complete application to the School of Graduate Studies by January 15. After which, applicants can apply for graduate student funding by completing the two forms outlined below by February 15

APPLY

Applying requires two essential forms that need to be completed before February 15:

  1. Department Funding Application: https://forms.gle/aoki4JwYBvyicFnA7
  2. School of Graduate Studies Funding Application: https://sgsmorgan.smapply.us/ (Instructions Here)

TYPES OF FUNDING

The department offers three types of funding:

In addition to departmental funding, additional graduate assistantships in student affairs and academic support units across campus may be available. Availability varies each year based on institutional needs.

Funding Timeline and Review Process

Funding decisions are made on a rolling basis, with priority given to students who apply by the Departmental priority deadline.

Key points to know:

  • Students must first apply for a graduate degree program through the School of Graduate Studies
  • Priority consideration is given to students who apply by January 15
  • Not all admitted students receive departmental funding

Students will receive information about funding applications and next steps after admission.

International Students

International students may be eligible for certain forms of departmental and campus-based funding. Students should review additional requirements related to enrollment status, employment eligibility, and visa regulations. More information is available through the School of Graduate Studies.

Questions About Funding?

We understand that funding is a significant part of planning for graduate study. After submitting your application, students are welcome to contact the department with questions about funding opportunities and timelines (email us at DASLP@morgan.edu). We encourage prospective students to apply early and to consider how funding fits within their broader academic and professional goals at Morgan State University.
