Morgan State University’s Dr. Krishna Bista Named to 2025 “50 Voices – Americas” List by The PIE News

The Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy (DASLP) at Morgan State University proudly celebrates Dr. Krishna Bista, Professor of Community College Leadership, for being named to The PIE News “50 Voices – Americas” for 2025. This prestigious recognition honors influential and high-impact leaders shaping the landscape of international education across North, Central, and South America.

Selected from a competitive pool of nominees, this year’s 50 Voices list includes thought leaders working across policy, research, student mobility, and global engagement. According to The PIE, the 2025 cohort represents a completely new group of changemakers, featuring emerging voices from across the Americas who are driving innovation in international education during a time of global transition.

Dr. Bista’s inclusion reflects not only his individual contributions to the field but also Morgan State University’s growing leadership in internationalization, global partnerships, and cross-border research collaboration. “This acknowledgment speaks to our collective work at Morgan State University and within the STAR Scholars Network to strengthen global engagement, elevate international student success, and expand opportunities for cross-border scholarly collaboration,” said Dr. Bista. “At a time when international education is navigating profound challenges and transitions, I am grateful to contribute to efforts that advance equity, global mobility, and the value of international education worldwide.”

A widely recognized scholar and practitioner, Dr. Bista serves as Vice President of the STAR Scholars Network and is the founding series editor of Routledge’s Global Student Mobility book series. His research spans international student experiences, higher education leadership, and HBCU global initiatives, and he has authored or edited more than 100 scholarly works. At Morgan State, Dr. Bista teaches in the Community College Leadership program and mentors doctoral students in research methods and international education.

His recognition by The PIE—a leading global organization for news and analysis in international education—underscores Morgan State’s broader mission as Maryland’s preeminent public urban research university to foster global excellence, equity, and access in higher education.
