Teaching and Research Interests:

Xiaoli Gong has about ten years of teaching experience ranging from K12 to graduate student level. Her education includes a Master of Arts in teaching and a certificate in teaching Mandarin as a world language from Towson University. Currently, she is working on her doctorate degree in Applied Linguistics and Language Education (ALLE) at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests include immersion language teaching methodology and literacy development, world language pedagogy, education policy, and heritage language learning. Morgan State University has a special place in her heart because some of her previous students from the Baltimore City School District and their parents have attended Morgan State University. Teaching at Morgan connects her with them in some critical ways.
