Veterans Orientations and Information Sessions

The VES team hosts orientations and information sessions in the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters. These sessions are mandatory for new students and allow returning students to stay informed about the VA Educational Benefits and funding opportunities that are available to students who hold military affiliation. Sessions are hosted virtually and in person based on academic season and availability.

Military Appreciation Day Events

Designed to acknowledge all veterans around the State of Maryland for their services to the nation and our community.  We place a specific emphasis on our Morgan student veteran population and their families. however, all are welcome.  It's celebrated around the Veterans Day holiday and we invite distinguished veteran contributors to share in the festivities as we honor them with Morgan memorabilia. These events are held during the Fall and Spring semesters annually. Stay informed by liking us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Veterans & Community Hiring & Resource Fairs

The Veterans Engagement team is in partnership with the Maryland Department of Labor. Collectively, we host the annual Veterans & Community Hiring Fair during the Spring semester, and a Veterans & Community Resource Fair during the Fall semester. These events were created to assist not just the Active Duty Servicemember, but our Reservists, Retired Veterans, their spouses, and dependents. Understanding that our military population is supported in many ways, we also extend our outreach to members of the various communities around the State of Maryland and the DMV area who are struggling with high unemployment rates, failing resources, communication gaps, and much-needed educational and job skills. With the support of over 70 ready-to-hire recruitment specialists who come ready to hire and provide services, these events are ones that you should not miss. Center for Academic Success and Achievement - Tutoring Resource

Each term the Veterans Engagement Services team performs mid-term assessments on all student veterans who are using VA/DoD Educational Funding to determine their success rate academically.  These assessments review the student veterans' courseload, grades at midterm point, and overall GPA standing with the university. If students are found to require some additional assistance, the VES team has partnered with the CASA - Tutoring Resource Center as an opportunity for our students to get back on track. Students are referred for tutoring services based on need.  Documentation will be provided for students to track and maintain their session reviews. All documentation has a deadline for submission and is shared with the Department of Veterans Affairs in order to maintain compliance with the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards of the school.
