BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Tori Van Tassell earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from Morgan State University. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a Master’s degree in Human Science. After five years as a practicing athletic trainer, Dr. Van Tassell transitioned to academia and currently serves as an Assistant Professor and Internship Coordinator in the Sports Administration and Movement Education. She is dedicated to supporting student growth, well-being, and success through engaging instruction, mentorship, and hands-on experiential learning opportunities. In her role, Dr. Van Tassell works closely with students to prepare them for professional careers in sports administration, movement education, and related fields.

RESEARCH INTEREST:

Dr. Van Tassell’s research focuses on sexual violence and health within higher education and athletic contexts. She examines the discourse used in sexual violence policies at colleges and universities, the prevalence and experiences of sexual violence on campus and among collegiate athletes, and perceptions of health and wellness among college students. Additionally, her work explores the role of coaching and athletic culture in shaping student-athlete experiences and well-being.
