BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Uddin is the Director of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education & Professional Development at Morgan. He started high career as a high school mathematics teacher and then served as an assistant principal and a principal in a high school. Progressivism and reconstructionism are his teaching philosophies. He employs praxis-based and experiential learning approaches to foster candidates’ critical, social, emotional, and educational growth. His teaching focuses on empowering them to become innovators, problem-solvers, collaborators, and thought leaders in their schools and communities.

RESEARCH INTEREST:

STEM teaching, teacher development, and teaching-learning are his primary foci for research. He intends to develop classroom teachers as coaches who can promote K-12 students’ academic progress in STEM. He also studies to sharpen K-12 professionals’ efficacy in advancing school culture and student-centered STEM teaching-learning practices. Critical Pedagogy is the foundational framework of his exploration, and he emphasizes Freire’s theory of critical praxis and teachers as cultural workers in his research.
