About

Welcome to the 2025–2026 academic year at Morgan State University’s School of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (SCMNS)! To our returning students, we are delighted to welcome you back as you continue to progress toward your academic and professional goals. To our new students, we extend a warm welcome as you join our vibrant community of scholars, innovators, and leaders.

SCMNS offers ten bachelor’s, five master’s, and four doctoral degree programs across our five academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics & Engineering Physics. Our undergraduate offerings include Actuarial Science, Biology, Chemistry, Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Coastal Science and Policy, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Medical Laboratory Science, and Physics. Notably, our B.S. in Actuarial Science is the only such program in the State of Maryland and among the Nation’s 115 HBCUs.

We are dedicated to preparing students for advanced study and competitive careers. To this end, we have established pre-admission partnerships with the medical schools at Boston University and George Washington University, as well as numerous internship opportunities, including placements with leading high-tech companies on the West Coast, such as Google, Facebook, Apple, and Intel. Located in the Baltimore–Washington corridor—home to thriving IT, health care, pharmaceutical, and defense industries, along with numerous federal agencies—our school continues to expand partnerships that open doors for our graduates.

Aligned with Morgan State University’s strategic goal of Growing Morgan into a World-Class Doctoral Research University, our graduate programs are positioned for rapid growth and advancement. These include master’s degrees in Advanced Computing, Applied Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, and Integrated Sciences (with concentrations in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), as well as four interdisciplinary doctoral programs: Advanced and Equitable Computing, Bioenvironmental Science, Industrial & Computational Mathematics, and Integrated Materials Science. Each program is supported by world-class faculty committed to advancing research and innovation.

This academic year promises exciting opportunities for growth, discovery, and achievement. We encourage you to challenge yourselves academically, engage in research and experiential learning, and take an active role in campus life. Each of you brings unique talents and perspectives that contribute to the legacy and future of Morgan.

Please know that our faculty, staff, and administrators are deeply committed to your success. We are here to support, inspire, and walk with you as you pursue excellence.

Let us make the 2025–2026 academic year one of purpose, resilience, and accomplishment. Welcome back—and welcome home to Morgan.
