Housing Options: Harper-Tubman House/Lord Baltimore Hotel

As you prepare for the Fall 2026 housing process, we want to provide an important update regarding Harper-Tubman Residence Hall.

Harper-Tubman is one of Morgan’s legacy residential buildings. As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing the residential experience, Harper-Tubman is undergoing a comprehensive renovation. The building will retain its rich historic exterior. However, the interior will be fully modernized to provide an enhanced living-learning environment supporting students’ personal and academic success.

As with many preservation and renovation projects involving legacy buildings, the careful work required to honor the structure’s history has presented complexities that have resulted in an adjusted timeline. As a result, Harper-Tubman will not be ready for student occupancy at the start of the Fall 2026 semester.

To ensure continuity of housing for Fall 2026-Spring 2027, only upper-class and transfer students will be eligible to reside in Harper-Tubman. In support, the University has arranged temporary accommodations at the Lord Baltimore Hotel (LBH) beginning in August. Students will reside at LBH until Harper-Tubman is completed and ready for occupancy, which is anticipated to be in mid-November. Students residing in LBH for this period will have exceptional amenities to include a reduced meal plan, double room occupancy with in room bath, transportation, laundry facilities, and dining options in the Hotel at a cost. Students may also have their clothing professionally laundered for an additional fee. Additionally, in recognition of this temporary arrangement, students assigned to Harper-Tubman will receive a $500 housing credit for the Fall 2026 semester.

In mid-November the University will coordinate and provide moving support for students from LBH to Harper-Tubman. This transition is projected to be executed from November 13-15 in advance of student departures for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
