We are happy to announce that we have brought Brittany Wolfe onto the team of researchers at Morgan State University's Patuxent Environmental and Aquatic Research Laboratory (PEARL). Ms. Wolfe was added to the team to support the expansion of the Oyster Genomics Breeding program headed by Dr. Ming Liu. Brittany will be managing the research hatchery and algal production facility as well as supporting other research projects being conducted at the PEARL. In addition to the hatchery work, she will also be serving as a Maryland Sea Grant Extension Specialist with the objective of supporting the growing aquaculture industry in Maryland through sharing knowledge of shellfish production and grow-out methods, public and stakeholder education, transfer of scientific research, as well as cultivation of new aquaculture and fisheries species.

Brittany recently received her master's degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has previously worked at the Aquaculture and Genetics Breeding Technology Center at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science for several years as well as working in the oyster industry. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maine in marine science with a concentration in marine biology where she worked in a fish hatchery breeding tropical fish for hobbyists to relieve pressure on wild capture of the fish. Brittany's interests include polyploidy, genetics, shellfish breeding programs, and aquaculture of fish and bivalve species.
