Kristen Jones is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. Her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics was awarded from Morgan State University (2021). In August 2022, she became a Bioenvironmental Sciences Ph.D. student at Morgan State University graduate division.
Kristen became a Bioenvironmental Sciences Ph.D. student at MSU’s PEARL laboratory studying environmental economics and ecology. Research interests include socioeconomic impacts of environmental spaces, environmental justice, climate adaptation strategies, blue-green infrastructure, and reduction of water contamination.
Her hobbies include sculpting, painting, hiking, gardening, and content creation. In addition, she works as a math tutor and volunteers her time on environmental justice initiatives, focusing on historical research and data analysis. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in marine and environmental pollution reduction.
Public Presentations and Speaking:
Kristen Jones spoke on a panel at the 2024 Annual National Quantum AI Literacy Network (NQLN) Conference 3.0 at Georgia Tech Conference Center about how today’s students use AI technologies.
Kristen presented two research projects at the PEARL’s Annual Summer Internship Symposium in 2023. The first focused on Mysid species' habitat preferences under varying physical conditions, while the second explored Baltimore residents' economic valuation of Masonville Cove, including a brief history of environmental justice in Baltimore.
