Morgan State University to Demolish Former Hospital Complex to Make Way for Medical School
Morgan State University is moving forward with plans to demolish part of a former hospital complex to make room for a new, for-private, private medical school. The state Board of Public Works approved the demolition of a 181,000-square-foot building formerly known as the Montebello Hospital Complex on June 8, and Morgan State University hopes to welcome the first students into the new school in 2024.
Baltimore Police Interns Could Help Ease Recruitment Woes, Improve Community Relations as Pilot Program Launches
As law enforcement agencies across the country struggle to recruit new officers and strengthen community trust, the Baltimore Police Department announced a new internship program in partnership with two historically Black universities in Baltimore. A group of eight students and recent graduates of Coppin State and Morgan State universities have already started their summer internships with the department.
College Interns Get Close Look at Inner Workings of Baltimore Police Department
College students getting a close look at the inner workings of the Baltimore Police Department in a first-of-its-kind internship program. From an inner-city college campus to the streets of a big city police department, it's another attempt to change the way students view law enforcement. The paid, on-the-job training comprises 40 hours a week for a good part of the summer for almost a dozen students from Coppin State and Morgan State universities.
