147 apartments Headed to Lauraville with Focus on Morgan State Students

A plan to develop a 147-unit apartment complex in Lauraville was outlined before the city's architectural review panel on Thursday amid optimism for the project by leaders in Northeast Baltimore. The project aims to provide apartment options for graduate students at Morgan State University, located about two miles away. The historically Black institution is set to grow with expansions planned or underway in the community and new student housing and administrative and classroom building on campus.

Morgan State University in Baltimore could soon receive $2 million for its new artificial intelligence research center. The funding was included in the Commerce, Justice, and Science and Related Agencies Appropriations bill for the fiscal year 2023, which was passed by a House Appropriations subcommittee and is set to go before the full committee for consideration.

Morgan State University to Demolish Former Hospital Complex to Make Way for Medical School

Morgan State University is moving forward with plans to demolish part of a former hospital complex to make room for a new, for-private, private medical school. The state Board of Public Works approved the demolition of a 181,000-square-foot building formerly known as the Montebello Hospital Complex on June 8, and Morgan State University hopes to welcome the first students into the new school in 2024.
