Professor Grieb’s Taphouse gets Award Recognition
Brian Grieb, AIA, Assistant Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning, has been recognized for two design awards for a recently completed private residence in Baltimore. Under his leadership, his architectural design practice, GriD architects, was selected for a Merit Award from the American Institute of Architects Chesapeake Bay Chapter as well as the People's Choice Award - Residential from the American of Institute of Architects Maryland Chapter.
The winning project, called Taphouse, involved a modernization of the existing structure that dates from the late 1800's, as well as a generous addition to add more living space for residents. The jury commented that the project provides a "wonderfully unexpected restoration of the existing building, with a subtle juxtaposition in color, but equally intriguing addition."
