The Forum on Education Abroad Selects Morgan’s Dr. Charlene Chester Jerome to Serve in Guiding Organization’s Direction and Programming

 

Morgan State University’s Charlene Chester Jerome, Ph.D., assistant dean for administration and outreach for the James H. Gilliam Jr. College of Liberal Arts, has been elected to serve on The Forum on Education Abroad’s Forum Council. She joins five other education abroad professionals from across the country who were recently selected to help guide the Forum’s direction and programming.

This marks Dr. Chester Jerome’s first term on the Council, where she will serve a three-year appointment with the potential to be re-elected for a second term. The Forum Council plays an instrumental leadership role within The Forum, working collaboratively with the organization’s board of directors and staff to represent members’ interests and help shape programs, resources, and services in the field of education abroad.

Council members contribute through active engagement in committees, working groups, and communities of practice. The newly elected Council convened in June 2025 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to begin strategic planning for the 2025–26 fiscal year.

The Forum on Education Abroad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the U.S.-recognized Standards Development Organization for the field of education abroad. Its mission is to advance high-quality education abroad experiences that ignite curiosity, impact lives, and contribute to a better world.

Dr. Chester Jerome’s leadership role with the Forum Council builds on her previous selection to Leadership Baltimore County’s Class of 2022, where she joined a diverse cohort of professionals in exploring innovative, community-driven solutions for the Greater Baltimore region.
