Landscape Faculty clarifies myth about Western influence of design in Colonial India
Professor Archana Sharma's emerging research on Indology, led to an article clarifying the myth about Western influence on built infrastructure design in India through colonization period was recently published in the Journal of Landscape Architecture, India. Sharma reviews the writing on ancient Indian text Manasara, related to architecture and town planning, to establish that street and sidewalk design guidelines were well established in pre-colonial India and thus the said urban infrastructure tenet is not a relic of British colonization.
