'Opportunity to Relax': Morgan State Regroups with Day of 'Wellness'

Morgan State University students are back in the classroom after a "Wellness Day." The college takes two days per semester where there are no assignments, papers due or exams. The purpose is to relieve stress while encouraging students to take care of themselves and others. For many students, college is stressful. Some students are juggling classes and extracurricular activities.

More Americans Have Gotten Mental Health Treatment Since 2019, Especially Younger Adults and Women

The percentage of adults getting mental health treatment increased from 19.2% in 2019 to 21.6% in 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in data published this month. However, the decline in non-Hispanic Black adults who received mental health treatment could be due to resiliency and the resumption of daily activities, said Sonya Clyburn, a licensed clinical psychologist and director of Morgan State University's counseling center.

Morgan State University (MSU) is teaming up with Pfizer to get more minoritized populations into the field of medical development, and two Black women make up the fellowship’s inaugural class. Through the 2-year program, dubbed the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) Fellowship in Vaccines Medical Development, participants will “gain invaluable training and networking opportunities to pursue a successful career in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Meet the Founding Dean of the Proposed Medical School at Morgan State University

The Maryland College of Osteopathic Medicine (proposed) at Morgan State University (MSU) “is in the applicant stage of accreditation, known as the “initial” stage,” according to information provided to The Baltimore Times. The future campus site would be located at the Montebello Complex area if the proposed medical school gets the greenlight. The current building will be demolished, and a new building will be constructed. Investment commitments for the project have reportedly reached $18.5 million.
