Assistant/Associate Professor IS - Cybersecurity

Position: Assistant Professor of Information Science and Systems

The Earl G Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University seeks to fill a tenure-track position in the Department of Information Science and Systems at the Assistant level with specialization in Information Systems with a focus on Cybersecurity beginning in August 2021. This opening is one of eight for Morgan's new Cybersecurity Assurance and Policy (CAP) Center, a collaboration between faculty in various schools and departments.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (by August 2021) in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related disciplines with experience in the following area: Cyber Security with emphasis on policy skill sets for research. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of quality research and the potential for excellence in teaching. Prior work experiences that use related skills are desirable, though not necessary.

Responsibilities:

This faculty position will serve the mission of Morgan State University and the Earl G Graves School of Business and Management through the activities of teaching, intellectual contributions, and service. The person holding this position will be responsible for developing and teaching online and face-to-face undergraduate and graduate level courses in information systems and project management for PhD, MBA, MS and BS degrees. The candidate will conduct research and write and obtain grants in the area of Information Assurance and Cybersecurity and/or Project Management discipline leading to publishing in refereed journals and presenting the research in local, national and international conferences and serve as a member of professional organizations. The candidate will participate in Department, School, and University committees. Teaching assignments will include courses in Computer Network, Risk Management, Cybersecurity electives, introductory computer literacy, management information systems, and depending on background and qualifications, may include courses in data analytics, systems analysis and design, project management, supply chain management, and enterprise information systems (SAP). The ability to use technical tools such as Linux security toolset libraries and network traffic analyzers is desirable. Engagement in multidisciplinary work with faculty with very diverse backgrounds is anticipated.

Other Preference for Consideration

An active CISSP, or equivalent certification is desirable.

Morgan State University is Maryland's preeminent public urban research university, known for its excellence in teaching, intensive research, effective public service and community engagement. MSU has a R2 Carnegie Research designation. The AACSB accredited Earl G Graves School of Business and Management offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees. The school offers nine (9) undergraduate programs, five (5) masters programs and a doctoral program with specialization in Information Systems, Accounting, Marketing and Business Administration. The Department of Information Science and Systems offers BS in Supply Chain Management, BS in Information Science and Systems, MS in Project Management, a certificate in Project Management and offers courses that lead to an MBA degree as well as a PhD degree with an Information Science and Systems concentration. Approval for a PhD degree with Supply Chain Management as a concentration is pending.

Salary: Salary is competitive.
