Dr. Tridip K. Bardhan is the Chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Dr. Bardhan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts from Dhaka University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Wichita State University. He also received a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management Science and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, both from Wichita State University. Dr. Bardhan’s Ph.D. focused on Constraint Identification and Evaluation in Manufacturing and Design Systems. His research interests and expertise are:

  • Production Control and Management: Facility Layout, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Material Handling, Supply Chain & Logistics Management – ERP & PDM, Facility Layout, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Material Handling & Warehouse Planning. 
  • Project Management: Constraints Sequencing & Equivalency, Time-Cost Trade-Offs, Scheduling and Reverse Crashing for TAOC Projects.
  • Manufacturing Systems and Integration: Parametric Standards, Interoperability of CAD, History, Data Transfer Standards, Consistent Product Life-Cycle Systems, Collaborative Engineering Standards, Lean Manufacturing & Green Manufacturing.
  • System Engineering: Open Engineering Systems, Constraint Readability, Multi-level Constraint Optimization, Sequence and Logistic Optimization. 
  • Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing: STEP, Parametric Standards, Persistent Naming Standards, Interoperability of CAD, History Data Transfer Standards, Consistent Product Life-Cycle Systems, and Collaborative Engineering Standards. 

Dr. Bardhan has published more than 75 journal and conference articles on these topics. More
recently, Dr. Bardhan worked on a number of projects in the areas of Strategy Forecasting,
Dynamic Smart Manufacturing Systems, Evaluating of Project Risk factors on Sequential Base,
and Cluster Forecasting Systems.

Under his leadership, the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering received its last two accreditations from ABET® in 2013 and 2019.

Dr. Bardhan is a Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) and Certified Professional in
Engineering Management(CPEM). Dr. Bardhan is also registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the United Kingdom.
